Clear Waters

Oil on canvas painting of a barefoot girl washing dishes at the seashore, by Honduran artist Enmanuel Membreño. Dressed in white, she holds a green bowl covered in soap suds and meets the viewer's gaze with quiet calm. Beside her, stacked enamel basins rest on the wet sand. The clear, shallow water reveals the sandy bottom before deepening into rich blue toward the horizon, under a wide sky of light clouds. Strong sunlight shapes the dress and skin with warm contrasts and bluish shadows. It is a genre scene that turns an everyday chore into a portrait of dignity, work and life by the sea.
